Bob’s Scholarship Golf Tournament Update

           Bob Waren Athletic Scholarship at University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill)

    An athletic scholarship has been started at UNC in Bob’s name. In order to be funded the scholarship needs to be at $200,000. Currently, $60,000 has been raised. There are two anonymous donors that will complete the funding of the scholarship when the fund reaches $85,000.

    Therefore, a fund raising golf tournament in Bob’s name will be held October 24th on Friday of the weekend of the Carolina vs. Boston College football game. See the details on the website. We have a goal to raise a net of $25,000 to complete the scholarship. The format is a handicapped Captains Choice. We will have 22 teams with currently having 20 pledged. You can still participate even if you don’t play golf.

    Immediately after the golf at the golf course there will be a social and barbeque for players and their quests. Beer, wine and North Carolina award winning barbeque cooked by Vic Wilkens will be provided.

Each team sponsorship is $1,000 and the team captain is responsible for collecting the funds.  All checks are to be made the UNC Athletic Foundation and are tax deductible and can be used for Rams Club points.

Those people that just want to play and not be obligated to organize a team, please send in your name and we will put you on a team.  The individual cost is $250 and the funds are a “tax deductible” expense to the UNC Educational Foundation.
